Water Safety and you
Friends, with the week of July 4th upon us, we want to take this moment to remind you to be safe of the water. Your first safeguard is to wear your lifejacket (there’s a reason they call it that) at all times on the water. You wear your seatbelt for safety in your car, this is no different. Whether or not you paddle with us this week, just wear it. Even if other local outfitters don’t mandate it. Your safety is our first priority above money, always has been. There are plenty of local outfitters who will say, ‘just keep it on your kayak’ to which we respond, your kayak doesn’t need saving, you do. It’s like trying to put on a seatbelt in the middle of a crash. Our dear friends in Search and Rescue remind us that they go on searches for those wearing a lifejacket, recoveries for those that don’t….. take a moment to let that sink in.
The second reminder is to not consume alcoholic beverages and paddle. Yeah, we get it, this is all about having a good time this week. Celebrate. But the stark reality is some will lose their lives on the highways and waterways because they chose to drink and drive, or drink and boat.
We’ve only has 2 rules since we started this company,
1- Be safe
2- Have fun
Enjoy your time on the water this week, and remember why we’re celebrating our independence.
Signed, a USMC veteran who loves this country.
